At The Decelerator, we’re listening closely to the sector, spotting what’s changing, evolving, and sometimes going unnoticed. We’re experimenting with what it means to work with endings rather than avoiding them, and exploring the impact this approach can have. We might be biased, but we think these are signals everyone who cares about civil society should notice.

Civil society leaders use our insights to navigate complexity and make confident decisions. Funders draw on them to shape strategy and funding in a fast-moving landscape.

We’re committed to accountability. That’s why we work ‘In the open’ as much as possible, sharing our learnings, activities, and financial information. While our current modest funding lasts until 2029/2030, endings are not a time-limited feature of civil society. We don’t yet know whether The Decelerator will continue to be needed by the sector beyond 2029. Sharing our learnings openly is one way we hope to have lasting influence, no matter how long The Decelerator operates.
