The Decelerator Hotline
The Decelerator Hotline offers a free, confidential and non-judgemental space with a trained Deceleration Navigator. With your Navigator’s support, you will have an opportunity to step back and consider an ending you might be considering, planning or in the midst of.
You might want support to think through some of the complicated processes involved in endings that many people feel tell us they have not been trained in or experienced before.
You might want some space to process some mixed emotions you have which are very common with endings including uncertainty, anticipation, loneliness, relief, worry and hope.
You might want to say something out loud for the first time or the 100th time.
Whatever your circumstances, we are here to give you space to breathe, think, and consider all options available to you.
The Decelerator’s Hotline commitment / offer:
We can offer you a one-off call with a Deceleration Navigator to help you decide the best course of action. Each call is usually 50 minutes long.
We are ready to offer you solidarity and reassurance. Our Deceleration Navigators are people who have their own experience of endings in an organisational context.
We are ready to meet you where you are in the process. Whatever your circumstances, we are ready to support you to consider what can be done to make the best of an ending.
We are here to remind you that you are not alone. You may not have told anyone the ending you are considering or contemplating; it may be an unvoiced inkling. We may be the first or the 100th person you have told.
We are here to be practically supportive. Most people finish a call with some next steps. We have developed resources that can move you towards action and agency and we can share these with you over email after the call.
We can point you in the direction of people who can help. We can signpost you to freelancers or pro bono support from our Decelerator Directory or from within the Unitarian Community.
